Issue 02

Dear parent/carer

As you are aware, we are now up and running and the staff are working hard to ensure that your children receive the best possible education.

Our school environment still needs some minor tweaks to get it right, but we are amending and adapting as we progress, and I thank you for your patience.

I'm really excited by our outdoor space and have a vision for a forest school area (including fire pit), a growing area, mud kitchen, outdoor teaching environments and space for the pupils to build dens.  This will all take a bit of time to enact but will be fantastic when completed.

I also want to take this opportunity to remind you all that this journey is a partnership, and we welcome contact from all stakeholders.  Please do give us a call if you have any suggestions, concerns or simply want some more information about the progress of your child.

Best wishes

Richard (Head of Provision)

Attendance

Regular attendance is crucial for your child’s academic success and overall development. Consistent attendance ensures that your child doesn’t miss out on important lessons, activities, and social interactions that are essential for their learning and growth. We urge you to prioritise your child’s school attendance, as it greatly contributes to their academic achievement and fosters a sense of responsibility.

Attendance for week one was 100%. Well done to all the children for a fantastic week.

We really appreciate your support in ensuring that your child attends school every day to maximise their learning time and progress.

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE LAW REGARDING PENALTY NOTICES FOR UNAUTHORISED ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL

A new National Framework for Penalty Notices for school absence, including unauthorised holiday absence, was introduced following changes to the law. These new government regulations came into effect on 19th August 2024 and will affect when penalty notices are issued in Cornwall.

Our classes

Poldhu

Poldhu class have settled in really well and have enjoyed their first 2 weeks at Cury! They have been exploring their senses with bubbles, paint and 'moving to learn' activities as well as building the diddy cars which they love riding on the playground! They have also done some active maths and English learning, visited the local park and explored the outside area during gardening lessons. Most of all, they have been learning to work together, communicate, and build and maintain friendships through play and lots of building lego and car tracks!

Polurrian

The Pollurian group had an incredible first week, filled with exciting activities and learning experiences. They’ve enjoyed trips to the beach and the park, making the most of the beautiful weather, while also staying focused on their core subjects. It’s been wonderful to see how engaged and enthusiastic they have been, both inside and outside the classroom. I am so proud of all their hard work and positive energy. Looking ahead, I’m excited for next week when we’ll be starting our lake activities and swimming lessons. It’s going to be another fantastic week for the Pollurian group!
